Civic education has been the driving force behind my career for more than 14 years. As a product of powerful civic learning experiences, I understand the transformative role education can play in preparing students not only for academic success, but for engaged citizenship, meaningful careers, and lifelong participation in their communities.
Throughout my career, I have worked with school districts, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to develop curriculum, design innovative educational programs, streamline district initiatives, and create sustainable systems that support educators and learners. What began as a commitment to strengthening civic education in Oregon has grown into collaborations with partners across the United States, helping organizations connect their goals to meaningful and measurable outcomes.
In 2026, as our nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States, I can think of no better time to formalize this work through a consulting practice dedicated to supporting educational institutions and civic organizations. America 250 reminds us that democracy is not self-sustaining, it depends on each generation being prepared to participate thoughtfully and effectively in public life.
My approach combines strategic planning, curriculum design, educator support, and systems thinking. Whether developing new courses, aligning district priorities, building professional learning opportunities, or establishing workflows that increase organizational effectiveness, I focus on creating practical solutions that lead to lasting impact.
The results of this work have been recognized through honors including Teacher of the Year, the American Lawyers Alliance Teacher of the Year, and selection as a James Madison Fellow.
In 2025, I coached a two-student We the People team to a national championship—an accomplishment traditionally achieved by programs with teams of more than thirty students. That experience reinforced a lesson that guides my consulting work today: success is built through strong relationships, strategic planning, thoughtful preparation, and empowering people to achieve more than they thought possible.
Above all, I believe education should prepare students for life beyond the schoolhouse. The work of civic education is never finished, and I am committed to helping schools, organizations, and communities build the knowledge, skills, and systems necessary to prepare the next generation for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.

Civic Thread Consulting was founded on a simple belief: strong civic education is essential to the future of our communities, our democracy, and our nation.
Across the country, schools and districts are being asked to prepare students for an increasingly complex world while balancing academic priorities, graduation requirements, and community expectations. Yet many educators lack the time, resources, or support needed to build meaningful civic learning experiences that truly engage students.
Civic Thread Consulting partners with schools, districts, nonprofits, and educational organizations to strengthen civic education through strategic planning, curriculum development, professional learning, and program implementation. We help organizations design high-quality courses, pathways, and learning experiences that align with district goals while empowering students to become informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
Our work goes beyond creating curriculum. We help build educator capacity, foster buy-in among stakeholders, and inspire teachers to see the transformative power of civic learning. When educators are equipped and inspired, students are more likely to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to participate effectively in their communities and our constitutional democracy.
The name Civic Thread reflects the idea that civic learning should be woven throughout a student's educational experience—connecting classrooms, communities, and real-world engagement. By helping districts create sustainable and impactful civic education programs, we support their broader goals for student success, college and career readiness, and community engagement.
